Why Maison Tanger exists

Maison Tanger was born from a trip to Tangier, and from an observation that irritated us.

In the medina, elegance isn't in the shop windows. It's in the patina of a riad door, in the sand and terracotta tones that the light invents every evening, in that mix of eras the city never theorises. And what if you wanted to bring a little of that aesthetic home? Two options: the soulless tourist souvenir at €15, or the "artisanal luxury" at €300 that mostly bills you for its middlemen. Nothing in between.

Maison Tanger is that middle ground.

Let's be clear from the outset: we don't have a workshop in the medina, and we don't claim to have one. Our bags are inspired by Moroccan craftsmanship — its weaving, its bold colours, its Berber motifs — and then they come to life in premium PU faux leather, a 100% vegan material. We design and select each model from France, and we entrust it to partner workshops chosen for the consistency of their finishes. No fiction, no golden legend: a genuine inspiration, clean manufacturing, a clear price.

Going vegan is not a marketing argument; it's a founding conviction. No animal materials anywhere in the shop. Premium PU faux leather has concrete qualities: it doesn't mind the rain, it cleans with a wipe of a sponge, and it lets us stay between €25 and €96. It also has a limit, and we'd rather say so: in daily use, it lasts three to five years. It's a trade-off we stand by, product page by product page.
